Ada Pradhaman

How can Onam celebrations be complete without a bowl of Ada Pradhaman? This specialty dessert is a delicacy in Kerala that is made from rice, jaggery, and coconut milk (prepared with MAGGI® coconut milk powder). Add lots of dry fruits for that added crunch to elevate its flavour.

Ada Pradhaman Ingredients Ingredients
  • MAGGI® coconut milk powder (add water to reach the desired consistency of coconut milk)
    400 ml
  • MAGGI® coconut milk powder (cream) (add water to reach the desired consistency of Coconut cream)
    100 ml
  • Rice ada
    100 g
  • Jaggery
    400 g
  • Ghee
    2 tbsp
  • Raisins
    25 g
  • Cashewnuts
    25 g
  • Cardamom powder
    ½ tsp
How to Make Ada Pradhaman

Prepare Ada Pradhaman

  • Step 1

    Soak the ada in hot water for 30-40 minutes. Drain the water and  rinse in cold water to prevent ada to stick.

  • Step 2

    Soak jaggery with 100 ml water.

  • Step 3

    Fry raisins and cashewnuts in ghee.

  • Step 4

    In the same ghee, fry soaked ada for about 1 minute.

  • Step 5

    Add jaggery. Cook for 6-8 minutes.

  • Step 6

    Add coconut milk, cook for another 5-6 minutes, until it become thick.

  • Step 7

    Add coconut cream, cardamom powder & fried cashew nuts and raisins.

  • Step 8

    Cook for another 2 minutes.

  • Serving Suggestions:

    Garnish with fried coconut strips.
