Mutton Mappas

A delicacy from Kerala, Mutton Mappas is served during special occasions. Cooked in a paste prepared with MAGGI® coconut milk powder, this mutton gravy is mildly spiced for a delicious flavour. Serve it with appam, pathiri, and nool appam.

  • Water
    300 ml
  • Mutton
    250 g
  • Sliced onions
    100 g
  • Chopped garlic
    10 g
  • Sliced ginger
    10 g
  • Coconut oil
    2 tbsp
  • Green chilli
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt
    to taste
  • Kashmiri chilli powder
    1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder
    1 tbsp
  • Coriander powder
    1 tbsp
  • Cashew nuts
    50 g
How to Make Mutton Mappas

Prepare Mutton Mappas

  • Step 1

    Add water to mutton and boil it in a pressure cooker, and  keep aside.

  • Step 2

    Soak cashew nuts and grind to a thick paste.

  • Step 3

    Heat oil in a pan; add curry leaves, ginger slices, garlic, onion and sauté well.

  • Step 4

    Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, and salt, and sauté well.

  • Step 5

    Add boiled mutton and MAGGI® coconut milk powder and cook well for 4-5 mins.

  • Serving Suggestions:

    Serve hot with Appam.
